Pysanky
(Easter eggs) - is one of the brightest and the most enigmatic
manifestations of the talent and profundity of memory of ukrainian
people.
The tradition of easter eggs
painting takes its beginning since pagan times. Depending on the regions
there are some differences in the pattern of picture, color scheme,
division of the surface of the egg.
Numeruos crosses and crossings
symbolized fertility, rings and lines assosiated with the feminine and
musculine origin in our ancestor's mind. Colour palette reflected
surrounding nature: water, the Sun, forests, fields, meadows.
Our ancestors truly believed that a
house where was a sacrificed pysanka, was protected from evil and the
lightning wouldn't strike it. Till nowadays we cannot but admire the
magic of this art coded in pysanky's ornament.
