Rick: I almost always shoot landscapes wide. This works.
Amy Harding: This is nicely framed w/ the river leading out of the frame. I
would recommend tilting the camera down or changing your zoom to reduce your
sky by about 1/3. Also, a ND filter would have helped you get more
detail in the clouds.
Darryl Dmytriw: I whole heartedly agree with Ms. Harding. This is the perfect
scene for an ND graduated filter - although maybe you can accomplish the
same with Photoshop or such. There's loads of detail in the sky
waiting to be brought out. One small lament is that your position
didn't let you get above the trees that cut into the river at about the
midpoint. Still a beautiful scene well caught.
Doug Lander: Nice shot. I agree with Amy's suggestions too.
George Rady: I don't think an ND would have done much with the sky, as it seems
rather featureless, regardless. I would have gone with a
"landscape" format, having a "nothing" sky, and try to
emphasis the best element in the scene, the winding river in the valley.
